Mission

Outdoor theater has a great potential to reach new target groups whose awareness of theater has been limited to more traditional environments (theater houses, museums, and other cultural institutions); and whose engagement can be encouraged by an introduction to more diverse and approachable forms of art, relocatable to their lives and circumstances.

There is almost no formal educational infrastructure and no central institution in Europe leading street theater studies. It is, as an artistic activity and adult education, mainly sustained by non-institutional groups. Outdoor performing adult education can take theater to ’cultural cold spots’: triggering the imagination towards social change and empowering the community. In most European countries rural communities have little cultural provision. We see street theater as an innovative chance to solve this problem.
